Shorts do not share a scoreboard with long-form video here, and the reason is arithmetic rather than editorial taste. A Short is carried by a feed that will show it to people who have never heard of the channel, so its view count is only loosely attached to the audience that channel has built. A long-form upload is mostly offered to subscribers and to people who went looking for something like it. Pool the two together and every Short gets measured against a baseline dragged down by videos that collect views a completely different way — which would make almost every Short look like a breakout.

So each channel on this page carries two separate normals. A Short is compared only against the median of that channel's other Shorts, and a long-form upload only against other long-form uploads. The multiplier in each row is how far a Short traveled past its own channel's Shorts baseline, which is the only version of the question a Shorts creator can actually act on.

That also changes how the numbers should read. Shorts baselines are noisier than long-form baselines: the feed can hand one upload an enormous audience for reasons that have little to do with how good it is, and a channel that posts in bursts has a thin baseline that a single strong week can move. Treat one towering multiplier as a lottery ticket and a channel carrying several as evidence of a repeatable hook.

Then read the top rows for craft rather than topic. Watch the first two seconds, the loop, the exact thing the creator withholds and when they give it up. That is where Shorts are won, and it transfers between subjects far more reliably than the subject itself does. Finally, check whether the premise survives being stretched — the strongest of these ideas travel back into long-form, and the weakest are a format trick that cannot carry eight minutes.

How these rankings are built

  • A Short's outlier multiplier is its views divided by the median views of the same channel's other mature Shorts, so the comparison never leaves the channel or the format.
  • Shorts and long-form uploads are kept in separate pools throughout, because the two formats reach viewers differently and a shared baseline would misprice both.
  • A median is used rather than an average so that one viral Short cannot lift the bar the channel's next upload is judged against.
  • The Short being scored is excluded from its own baseline, which keeps a breakout from raising the number it has to beat.
  • Institutional channels — corporate newsrooms, broadcast brands and licensed-footage archives — are excluded, because their reach comes from a media operation rather than from a hook another creator could build.
  • A Short reaches this leaderboard only when it clears every floor: a multiplier of at least 2x, uploaded within the past 12 months, at least 10,000 views, and a channel Shorts median of at least 1,000 views.
  • The table is a snapshot of the latest dataset publish rather than a live counter, and Shorts move quickly, so the ranking you see belongs to the date printed above it.

Common questions

Why do Shorts get their own leaderboard?

Because a Short and a long-form upload collect views from different places. Shorts are pushed into a feed of strangers, long-form is offered mainly to an existing audience, and a channel's typical result for one says very little about its typical result for the other. Scoring both in a single pool would make almost every Short look like a breakout.

Does a Short's multiplier mean the same thing as a long-form multiplier?

It is the same arithmetic — views over the channel's own median for that format — but it carries less certainty. Shorts baselines shift faster, and the feed can hand one upload a huge audience for reasons unrelated to quality, so a single large Shorts multiplier is weaker evidence than the same number on a long-form video.

My Short got a huge view count. Why is its multiplier small?

Because the bar it is measured against is your own Shorts median, not the platform. If your Shorts usually travel a long way, a big number is an ordinary week rather than an unusual one. The multiplier only ever asks whether this upload beat your own normal, and a strong baseline makes that a harder test.

Should a long-form creator read this page at all?

Yes, as a cheap idea test. A hook that works in a feed of strangers has already proven it can stop someone who does not know the channel, which is the same job a thumbnail and title do. Not every Shorts premise survives being stretched to eight minutes, but the ones that do arrive pre-validated.

How fresh is this Shorts ranking?

It rebuilds from the most recent dataset publish rather than from live view counts, so a Short that broke out in the last few hours is not here yet. Shorts also turn over faster than long-form video, so expect more movement between refreshes on this table than on the long-form leaderboards.

How many Shorts are behind this leaderboard?

246,192 Shorts from 1,524 channels are scored in the snapshot dated September 21, 2026. 7,442 of them clear the leaderboard filter, and this page publishes the strongest 10.

How often does this Shorts leaderboard change?

It is rebuilt from each dataset publish and the page revalidates hourly, so the ranking you are reading belongs to the snapshot dated September 21, 2026. Shorts move faster than long-form video, so expect more movement here between refreshes than on the niche pages.
