Raw view counts lie — find the real outliers
A 500K-view video from a channel that usually does 5M flopped. vidfora scores every upload against its channel's own median, so you surface the real breakouts and reverse-engineer why they worked.

The outlier score
Every video is scored views ÷ its channel's own median for the same format, so a small channel's breakout outranks a giant's coasting upload.
Filter to real breakouts
Narrow by niche, format, upload date, and views, then set a minimum outlier score — 2x, 5x, 10x or 20x — to pull only genuine overperformers.
Sort and save research
Sort by outlier score, views per day, engagement, or views per sub, then save any filter combo as a reusable set you can reopen in one click.
How it works
- 1
We score every video
For each channel we take the median views of its mature same-format videos, then divide each upload's views by that baseline.
- 2
You filter and sort
Set a niche, format, and a minimum outlier score to surface the roughly 1-in-10 uploads that clearly beat their channel's baseline.
- 3
Reverse-engineer it
Study the title, thumbnail, and angle behind proven outliers, then adapt the idea to your own channel and niche.
Questions
What is an outlier score?
It's a video's views divided by its channel's own median views for the same format, longform or Shorts. A 10x score means it did ten times that channel's typical performance.
Why not just sort by view count?
Raw views reward big channels and bury small-channel breakouts. Scoring against each channel's own median shows which ideas actually overperformed, regardless of subscriber count.
Is the outlier database free?
Yes. Browsing outliers and filtering by niche, format, upload date, views, and outlier score, plus sorting and saved filter sets, are all on the free plan.
